Habitat for Humanity helps tornado survivors rebuild

Applications increase as habitat for humanity prepares to help Joplin tornado survivors re-build. Around ten families displaced by the storm have signed up for assistance and habitat officials say they expect this number to grow. Habitat helps low or moderate income families build homes. They also offer discounted home building materials at the habitat re-store. Joplin’s habitat director say community support is vital to helping storm survivors re-build.

Scott Clayton, Executive Director of Joplin Habitat for Humanity says:

” It’s hard to put a number because there’s so much need and we want to do more, but the need is definitely there for more houses. Three to five homes a year would be what we were doing before, of course we need to do more and we want to do more.”
