Crash blocks HWY 400 for several hours Wednesday

Updated July 14, 2011 at 1:35 PM CST:  The Kansas Highway Patrol says US Highway 400 reopened at about 9:30 p.m. last night after a semi truck side-swiped a pickup truck.

The trailer had flipped and blocked the road since about 2 p.m.

Freeman Hospital says the driver of the semi was treated for his injuries and released yesterday.

Updated July 13, 2011 at 7:05 PM CST:  The Kansas Highway Patrol tells us US Highway 400 is blocked after a semi truck side-swiped a pickup truck, and the semi’s trailer is now blocking the road.

KHP dispatch says the semi was following the pickup on US 400 about 11 miles east of Parsons at about 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.  When the pickup went to turn north on York Road it was side-swiped by the semi.  The trailer ended up on its side and is now blocking the road.

We’re told the driver and passenger of the pickup were transported to Labette Health with injuries.

The driver of the semi was taken to Freeman and is listed as code “disabled”.

Posted July 13, 2011 at 6:20 PM CST:  Traffic is being rerouted now on US Highway 400 between Parsons and McCune after crash just a short time ago.

The Kansas Highway Patrol tells us a commercial motor vehicle was involved in a two vehicle accident at the York Road intersection of 400 in Labette County.  They say the Kansas Department of Transportation is not sure how long the road will be closed.
