Homeless Coalition faces challenges in upcoming count

The Homeless Coalition held a meeting today and members say it looks like they may have a challenge ahead of them.

The “point in time” count, the number of homeless in the area, is fast approaching and they say the tornado aftermath might make it difficult.

“We’ve had a lot of people, as you know, that have become homeless just like that,” says Jennifer Plier, the Chair of the Homeless Coalition.  “It just happens and it can happen anytime and anywhere, and so I think the needs are being met in the community.  There’s a variety of different programs, rent assistance programs, energy assistance programs, shelter and that type of thing, that are being offered.  I think there are a lot more services now then there were.”

The Coalition says it needs all of the volunteers it can get to help with the count.
