Hundreds of students “Engage” to help Joplin

In the past two weeks around 400 student volunteers have flocked to the Joplin area to serve the community in this time of need.

Sorting and folding clothes is one way student volunteers are engaging in the city of Joplin.

Engage” is a new student volunteer program from the Christ In Youth organization.

Students have the opportunity to learn life skills and get hands-on experience while responding to disaster needs of a community.

“I think having a program like is this important because it is a learning opportunity for students and leaders alike to come and see how a city responds and how the church responds in a time of crisis and to come do good for folks that need help in whatever way that might be,” says Matt Gilchrist, the program director for Engage.

Christ In Youth is an organization that puts on events that help fosters spiritual growth in students lives. They say that any church is welcome to participate in their events.
