JPD Reminder: Hot temperatures means hot cars

The heat is on in the Four-States and because triple digit temperatures can be very dangerous, local law enforcement reminds residents to never leave a child or pet inside of a hot car. They say when going to run and errand, no matter how long you are in the store, no one should stay inside of the car, even teenagers and adults can suffer from the heat. Officials say heat can cause Hyperthermia and Strokes in humans and animals.

James Stever, a Corporal with J.P.D. says, “Never leave a child or pet in a vehicle under any circumstances whether its cold or hot outside if you leave any or to go into a convenience store or a regular grocery store, you never know what might happen.”

While Joplin P.D. says there have been no injuries or deaths due to sitting in a hot car this summer, two Oklahoma children were found dead in the past week inside of hot cars.
