KC 8th graders take part in PSU tech camp

Young scholars get some hands-on experience at Pittsburg State University.  The eighth graders are learning the ins-and-outs of GPS tracking and getting the upper-hand on the technology world.

It was just one of today’s activities.

34 eighth graders from urban Kansas City took part in the three-day technology camp.

They also learned how to design bridges.

Organizers say they just want to give the kids more chances in life.

“The whole goal of this program is to get kids out in a college setting - let them see the possibilities, opportunities out there for them, and so we want to have the exposure to the technology, the systems and to the curriculums,” says Randy Winzer of Pittsburg State.

Other events today included experiments with plastics recycling and a robotics tug of war.
