More instruments will be given away to tornado survivors

Three Breed Love guitars, as well as guitar lessons, will be given away to three lucky recipients. The guitars, which are valued at close to one-thousand dollars, were donated to Joplin’s Ernie Williamson Music Store  for those who lost their possessions in the May 22nd tornado. The store manager says the gesture is important for musicians, and even those who have always wanted to learn to play.

“It’s certainly not the first thing people think of you know if you’ve lost everything in a tragedy like this, it’s not the first thing you would think about replacing, but it often is such a comforting thing to have, you know to uh, to kind of get back to that normal you know having your guitar and also for people who don’t play, it’s just sort of a way for people to relax and take their mind off everything that’s kind of going on,” says Eli Chambers, manager, Ernie Williamson Music.

Nearly 60 residents were nominated to receive a free guitar, the guitar was given away yesterday to a man who leads worship at a local church.

The three others will be surprised with their instruments next Saturday.
