And the American Red Cross is providing relief for those struggling with the heat.
The Red Cross opened a new indoor resource center, full of snacks and drinks, and allowing residents a break from the heat.
Red Cross officials say its important for residents and volunteers out in the triple digit heat to cool down and protect themselves.
“It’s hot, you know, people are out there trying to pick up the pieces of their lives, it’s getting hot so this is just a place where they can cool off and half someone to talk to.” says David Harbour, Case Worker with the American Red Cross.
The new center is located at 1110 E. 7th St., behind the Corps of Engineers Offices, and is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Saturday 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
