Comedians to take the stage for Joplin

Some nationally recognized comedians are get ready to take the stage in Joplin.  The lineup for “Stand Up for Joplin” gathered today with officials at the Taylor Performing Arts Center. Joplin schools hope to utilize Memorial Hall in fall

Joplin schools want to use Memorial Hall for the next school year. With Joplin High School and East Middle School damaged, the district hopes to contract with the City to use Joplin Memorial Hall for team practices and even games. The hall has a gym floor and can facilitate volleyball, basketball and PE classes. The city council will consider the proposal at its meeting tonight at 6PM.  Read More →

Man dies of possible heat exhaustion

High Heat
The triple digit temperatures are causing cases of heat exhaustion and may have played a role in the death of a homeless man in Springfield. Police say the 55 year old was found in a homeless camp in a wooded area Saturday morning in a small tent. An autopsy will be conducted. St. John’s emergency room doctors say they haven’t had cases of heat stroke but several heat exhaustion patients... 

Schools host second pre-enrollment day for students

Area school districts hold another early enrollment today. The districts hope to get an idea of how many students will switch schools after the Joplin tornado may have forced moves. Five school districts surrounding Joplin hosted pre-enrollment sessions July 11th as well. Coordinators say pre-enrollment will help all districts in the area take a look at the impact the tornado had indirectly placed...

Exchange Students from Iraq aid Joplin Relief Effort

Iraq Students
Dozens of international exchange students travel to Joplin to help with relief efforts. For many of them it was their first ever volunteering experience, it was also a way to learn about the American Spirit. Volunteering, something some Iraq students have never done before. A group of 25 Iraqi students from the University of Arkansas journey to Joplin to get a hands on experience on what volunteers...
