After a little more than four years KOAM and Fox 14 said goodbye to Steve Slivka on Thursday July 14. Steve is leaving us to go back to an area he knows very well, his hometown of Toledo, Ohio.  He’ll be working for the ABC affiliate there, a station where he interned previously. Crash blocks HWY 400 for several hours Wednesday

Kansas schools to build tornado safe rooms

Ten Kansas schools and districts will share $3.9 million in federal funds to build tornado safe rooms. The money comes from the FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program. Safe rooms are usually big enough to shelter a school’s population, and they must be strong enough to withstand winds up to 250 miles per hour. Domestic disturbance call prompts text alert to Pittsburg State students

Updated at 3:18 PM CST:  Crawford County, Kansas sheriff deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call on the east side of Pittsburg near Quincy this afternoon.
